Hoop Abroad holds it's "Check Ball" scouting and skills competition every fall in various US cities to find suitable talent to take on an all expenses paid scouting camp overseas for General Managers, coaches, scouts, and Heads of Basketball operations for professional international basketball teams.
You must be a registered participant in Check Ball to be considered. As a participant, you will play in 3 full games and go through a basketball skills assessment. Hoop Abroad will select all international scout prospects at the conclusion of the multi-city competition based on their basketball skills, overall athleticism, and professional level potential.
We look for a diverse group of players to accompany us on the international scouting camp. Therefore, it is important to select the top two positions that will best showcase your talent when registering. In other words you should not select point guard if you are 7 feet tall. Select only those position(s) that best demonstrate(s) your greatest strengths - be it back court or front court play, impressive defense, incredible perimeter shooting, or aggressive play in the paint. Hoop Abroad is unable to change a participant's position on game day. Additionally, we look for athletes who understand team basketball.
As mentioned, Hoop Abroad will absorb the costs of airfare and lodging for those players identified as international scouting prospects. Scouting prospects will participate in an international European basketball camp. This camp will be exceptional. You and the other Hoop Abroad scouting prospects will play exhibition games against professional teams in front of coaching staff and scouts to demonstrate your talent. You will also get to meet a lot of international coaches and scouts who are there for the international camp and clinic. These decision makers will evaluate Hoop Abroad prospects and make contract decisions based on your ability and the needs of their respective team.
Your dream of playing professional basketball is within reach. The international scouting camp will take place over approximately 10 days at the end of December through early January. Early registration is highly suggested as we cannot accept new registrations once capacity is met for that city. |
